The best funny questions aren't the cleverest ones. They're the ones that get the whole class WhatsApp group replying at once, or keep a hostel room awake an hour longer than planned.

Here are 45 of them, sorted by where you'll actually use them, plus a few small confessions that stay kind. At the end, you'll see how to turn your favorites into a quiz your friends can answer from a link.

What people choose to be asked about

Every quiz on this site starts with 10 suggested questions, and creators can rewrite any of them. Among quizzes made on this site between 30 July 2026 and 12 October 2026, 26.7% of quizzes (7,221 of 27,051) had at least one suggested question replaced with the creator's own.

Look at what they wrote. Among the English questions creators wrote themselves on this site, “What is my favorite series?” appeared in 126 quizzes and “What is my favorite anime?” in 101. Birthplace came next, with “Which country was I born in?” (83) and “Which state was I born in?” (72). Further down the list: “What is my favorite subject?” (62), “What is my dream job?” (36) and the wonderfully vague “What do i prefer?” (30).

Some quizzes changed a little, others changed everything. In quizzes made on this site from 25 September 2026 onward that had their own questions, 1,759 swapped exactly one question, 863 swapped two, and 759 had all 10 written by the creator.

One possible reading: people like questions about the things that make them who they are. That's why anime, series, birthplace, favorite subject and dream job are hidden in the lists below. A funny question works best when it's secretly about the person answering.

For the class or college WhatsApp group

Chats move fast, so pick questions people can answer in one line or with one name.

If this group were a TV series, what would it be called?
Who here would reply “ok” to a long, emotional message?
Who would survive longest in a zombie movie, and who goes first?
What's the most useless thing you've learned in class?
If our teacher read this chat, who would be in the most trouble?
Which anime character are you, honestly?

Post one question and let it run. If it dies, wait until the chat wakes up again, say before an exam or after a match, instead of sending another one straight away.

For a sleepover or a late night in the hostel

Late at night everyone gets a bit silly, which is exactly the point. These work in a PG room, a hostel corridor or a sleepover on the floor.

Long journeys need questions that can wander. Pass the snacks, ask one, and let everyone answer in turn. Whoever gives the best answer, by group vote, picks the next question.

Which snack would you refuse to share, even with us?
If you could get off at any stop and start a new life there, which one?
Who will be friends with the whole coach before we arrive?
If you could pick the state or country you were born in, which would it be?
What's the silliest thing you've packed “just in case”?

For a friend's birthday

Keep the spotlight on the birthday person and keep it warm. These work over cake, over chai or bubble tea, or in the group chat at midnight.

What's the worst gift you've received, and did you pretend to love it?
Who always forgets birthdays, and what's their best excuse so far?
If cake were banned, what would you cut instead?
What would your childhood self think of you today?
If the birthday person got famous tomorrow, what would it be for?

For Diwali, Eid or Christmas with cousins

Festival get-togethers mix ages, so choose questions that a younger cousin and an older one can both answer.

Small, silly confessions (kind ones only)

A little awkwardness is fun when everyone is in on it. These are about small, silly moments, not secrets.

Which song do you know every word of but would never admit to?
What's the silliest thing you've ever searched online?
What did you believe as a kid that turned out to be totally wrong?
Have you ever waved back at someone who was waving at the person behind you?
What's the most awkward thing you've accidentally said to a teacher?

To keep it kind:

Anyone can say “pass”, no explanation needed.
Laugh with the person, not at them. If someone goes quiet, move on.
Leave out crushes, bodies, money, bad marks and family problems.
If a question would hurt you, don't ask it.

Ten questions, one link, a group full of guesses

In the lists above, each person answers about themselves. A quiz flips that: your friends guess the answers about you. On this site, you type your name and get 10 suggested questions about yourself, each with four answer options already filled in. You can keep or rewrite any question and any option, and you mark the correct answer for each one. Then you get a link to share, for example in WhatsApp. Each friend answers the 10 questions and sees a score out of 10, and your page lists their names and scores. It's free, works in the browser and needs no app.

To convert a funny question, rewrite it about yourself and add four options: one true, three believable. “What's the silliest thing you've packed just in case?” becomes “What's the silliest thing I've packed just in case?”, with options such as an umbrella in a heatwave, a whole jar of pickle, my old school ID and a spare pillow.

Don't polish your real answer, because the honest one is usually the funny one. In quizzes made on this site from 25 September 2026 onward, Harry Potter was marked as the correct answer to “What is my favorite movie?” in 26.8% of quizzes and Titanic in 13.7%. Both are options the site already suggests. In 3.0% of quizzes from the same period, the creator typed in “Sleeping” as their own answer to the hobby question. An obvious answer is fine, but an unexpected and honest one gives the group more to talk about once the scores are in.

Mix a few funny questions with easier ones like your birthday or favorite subject. Keep the options short enough to read on a phone, and check that every question has a correct answer marked before you share.

Where these numbers come from

All figures come from quizzes created on this site between 30 July 2026 and 12 October 2026 (database snapshot 12 October 2026 00:08:42 UTC). That period has 27,051 quizzes. Only anonymous totals were used, with no names and no personal fields.

The share of quizzes with at least one own question covers the whole period.
For the list of own questions, only English wordings were counted, and each was used in at least 30 quizzes. Questions containing a person's name were excluded, and spelling variants were counted separately. Some frequent own questions are written in Indonesian or Spanish and aren't shown here.
The counts of how many own questions a quiz had, and the movie and hobby answers, use only quizzes created from 25 September 2026 onward. The movie figures are based on 15,716 quizzes and the hobby figures on 16,017, each with exactly one answer marked as correct.
Titanic is the first pre-filled option for the movie question, so its share is not a pure measure of preference.
